Harry Donenfeld has been a photographer his entire life. Growing up the grandson and namesake of Superman’s legendary comic book publisher, he faced a great challenge and legacy. Harry was fascinated at an early age with being able to tell an entire story within a single frame, seeing the world in just that moment. Itʻs that fascination that called him to journey to some of the worlds most exotic and remote locations in search of the perfect image.

This progressed rapidly from photography to video and then to television sales and production where he has produced three prime-time specials for TLC’s Alien Invasion Week 2001, an award-winning children’s series for TLC called “Bingo &Molly” and a variety of one-off documentaries like “Black Widow II: Declassified” about a stealth aircraft made by Northrup/Grumman. After 20 years in Los Angeles, he moved to Maui.

Lahaina, Maui was the location of Harryʻs first gallery, right there on Front Street, and for a while his photographic art was openly for sale. Then, in 2011/2012 he was appointed Film Commissioner for the County of Maui, closed his gallery and helped bring to the island the largest sound stage in the State, and lots of productions. After his time as Commissioner he had a small store selling and teaching the use of drones for aerial imaging.

Nowadays Harry keeps busy shooting incredible images with his drones as well as his all his other cameras! As an active photographer/videographer, he still travels the world in search of images and tales of adventure to bring back for all to share in. Some of his most recent adventures have included SCUBA diving in Antarctica, there was filming lava flowing into the ocean off the Big Island of Hawaii. Not to overshadow those incredible experiences but there there were also a few spectacular trips he was on with clients to Komodo, Indonesia and Palau…

What adventure will you and Harry go on…?
