Meet Harry’s Animals
Theodorable the Great
The very sick little goat who survived the night, grew past 300 pounds, and became the gentle leader of my family.

Where his story began
The call that changed everything
It was just before noon on October 20, 2022, when I got a call from a very dear friend.
“I have a very sick little goat in my backyard. If you don’t come and get him, he’s going to be put down.”
An hour later, I had Theodorable on my lap and had made the decision to take him to the vet.
Theo with me on the day we found him.
Safe in loving arms—but still very sick.
A long night
We didn’t know if he would make it
Theo was very sick that day. The vet didn’t think he would make it through the night. We left him there on an IV, barely able to stand.
At 10:30 that night, the vet called. I was certain she was going to tell me that he had passed. Instead, she was excited—Theo had responded to the medication. He was standing up and eating.

We still had to clear up his pink eye, but he was responding well to treatment for what the vet called “goat polio.” Somehow, that very sick little goat had decided he wasn’t finished yet.
Coming home
A second chance at life
Theo came home with me and has been here ever since. These early days were full of medicine, careful watching, and the small victories that slowly began to feel like a future.

By December, Theo was already making himself at home.
Raised by Hoku
From the little one to the old man
He was raised by Hoku, the goat who started all of this. Theo stopped being a “little” goat about a year later, when he had a substantial growth spurt. Today, he weighs more than 300 pounds.

He is now the “old man” and lead goat on the property. He looks after “his” girls, Heidi and Lucy, and every once in a while he still likes to go a round or two with Blu. Their slow-motion chases around the yard are legendary.
Theo today
Still convinced he is the little goat on my lap
Theo is the main attraction at the house. Every once in a while, he sneaks inside, apparently still convinced that he is the same little goat I once held on my lap.
Theo’s full-grown personality on display.

For all his size, he is nothing but love and tenderness.
He is the favorite of nearly every child who visits—and it isn’t difficult to understand why.
That is how a very sick little goat became Theodorable the Great.
